Inspire – High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

What is high potential and gifted education?
Inspire – High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
At Bankstown Girls High School HPGE is an important part of everyday practice. We are committed to recognising and fostering the talents of our girls and giving them the opportunity to thrive.
A key pillar of our HPGE provision is the Year 7 and 8 Enrichment Class, offered to students who demonstrate high achievement and learning potential. Placement is based on external testing and school performance data, ensuring that students are challenged at an appropriate level and supported to reach their full potential.
Students in the Enrichment Class benefit from:
- Differentiated and deep learning in core subjects
- Inquiry-based and critical thinking projects
- Collaborative problem-solving and innovation challenges
- Extension opportunities beyond the classroom, including academic competitions and community partnerships
These focus areas are extended throughout the school with all students being given the opportunity to showcase their talents and have their growth encouraged and supported.
We proudly offer a variety of extracurricular programs designed to grow students’ strengths and passions, including:
