Arrangements for Term 2 2020
As you are aware the NSW Premier has asked schools to develop a return to school plan for students that can be increased in a series of Phases.
Phase 1 will begin on 11 May 2020 and arrangements will be put in place for students in years 7 to 11 to return to school for one day per week. Year 12 will return 2 days per week with a day set aside for extension and practical subjects.
Student and Staff Safety
Measures will be put in place to protect staff and students in their return to school.
Students in years 7-10 will be assigned to the same classroom and desk / workspace for the duration of the day. Classrooms will be organised to ensure that there is plenty of space around individuals. Students will be given access to hand sanitiser as it is required. Desks and work surfaces will be cleaned when students are assigned their work area and they will be cleaned at the end of the day.
Students will work in classes of 10 students for smaller classrooms and slightly larger classes for larger classrooms and spaces.
What will my daughter be doing while she is at School?
School will begin at 8.45am and the girls will move to the main quad area where they will have a roll taken and be organised into small classes.
They will be issued with a classroom and a timetable for the day.
Year 7 and 8 are organised into 8 classes for the day. Each class lasts 30 minutes. There will be three breaks of 20 minute duration. The school day will end at 2.55pm.
Year 9 and 10 are organised into 6 classes for the day. Each class lasts 50 minutes. There will be two breaks of 30 minutes duration. The school day will end at 2.55pm
Year 11 and 12 are organised by their line and will have 6 classes for the day. There will be two breaks of 30 minutes. The school day will end at 2.55pm
Please note that the number of classes aligns with the courses the girls do in each year. It is important to be equitable and ensure the girls have access to all their courses while working from school.
Regardless of whether your daughter is learning at school or at home she will be doing the same unit of work as everyone else in her year / class group. While at school your daughter will have access to a teacher who can assist with any questions that come up.
Please note that all extra-curricular activities including scripture are not running at this time.
What will my daughter need to bring to school?
If your daughter has a laptop that has been issued by the school as a loan device she is expected to bring that device fully charged to school and she will use that throughout the day to complete her work.
If your daughter has a device that she can bring to school to use, she is encouraged to do that and complete her work online as set by her teachers.
If your daughter does not have a device then hard copies of the work will be provided so that the she can continue with their work.
School Canteen
The school canteen is currently closed. Please ensure that you send your daughter(s) to school with food and drink to sustain them for the day. The girls should also bring water bottles to school that can be filled up during the day.
What does my daughter do while Learning from Home?
A modified timetable was developed for the end of term one to make is easier for your girls and the teachers to work online at the same time. Now that teachers need to be at school to teach classes we have had to develop a modified timetable to guide the girls as to what they should be doing while at home. This is a guide to provide some structure as we progressively move to increasing the number of face to face days at school.
This does mean that unlike Term 1 teachers will not necessarily be able to answer questions raised by the girls immediately. It is still important for the girls to engage in their work and ask questions and a teacher will respond to them as soon as they can.
Your daughters are expected to log on their attendance in their Year Group Google Classroom each day by 9.30am in order for their attendance to be recorded officially. They should then follow as best they can the recommended schedule for Learning from Home.
Learning at School Schedules
Below you will find information on what day your daughter is expected to be at school for face to face classes.
Parental Accommodations
In cases where;
- You are an essential worker
- You have more than one daughter enrolled at the school but they are not scheduled to be at school on the same day, however you need to send them to school together
- For another reason you need to send your daughter to school
You can send your daughter to school and she will be placed in a class to continue with her work. If you are able to notify the school in advance this will assist us in ensuring that there are enough teachers to supervise all the girls adequately.
