Science is mandatory for all students from Year 7 to Year 10.
Science 7-10 provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real-world problems. Science emphasises the skills for working scientifically, as well as critical and creative thinking to address scientific issues.
In Years 11 and 12, students can choose from different science disciplines, including:
In Year 12, students who are studying at least one other science subject may also choose to study Science Extension.
To all our new Year 7 scientists,
Welcome to Science! You have been currently taking on the new and exciting Science Orientation Program where you have been learning all about what it takes to be a real scientist.
So far this year we have learnt about all the cool equipment we have in the laboratory and what it's all used for. Classes have been taught how to use a Bunsen burner and have now been given their Bunsen burner licences. Make sure you keep your licence with you when you come to class so you can do your experiments!
During the rest of the term, Year 7 will learn about some famous scientists and how their work has made our lives better. We will also be doing lots of fun and exciting experiments!
All the staff from the Science faculty hopes you continue to enjoy exploring the world through Science!
