Career education at Bankstown Girls' High School aims to increase students' awareness, understanding and confidence in planning for a positive future. Students from years 7 to 12 are encouraged to use the various career resources provided, to increase and develop their knowledge and understanding of pathways into employment or further education.
The Careers Department achieves this by providing and managing comprehensive career development programs throughout various transition stages to support all students. These programs aim to encourage students to reflect upon their own skills, dreams and ambitions in order to identify future career options, and to increase student knowledge of the wide range of career choices available. Looking toward a period of continual change and uncertainty, these career and transition programs aim to equip students with the ability to assess opportunities and challenges as they arise, and to make wise decisions.
Individual career counselling is available to senior students on request, with a program of counselling interviews in Year 12. Parents are encouraged to come along to an appointment with their daughter/guardian if there are matters they wish to discuss.
The Careers Office is also open during lunchtime.

On behalf of Bankstown Girls High School and the community, we acknowledge and respect the Bidjigal clan of the Darug Nation and their Elders, past, present and emerging. We further acknowledge and understand that Aboriginality is defined not by skin but by relationships. While we are learning to ‘always be our best’, we will continue to grow alongside our Aboriginal sisters and brothers.
