Is a leader born or made?
Being questioned by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazely, Governor of NSW, opened up new views towards the concept of young leaders stepping up to help the community. Soundarya Deshmukh, School Captain, and Vice-Captain, Tamanna Farheen, had the opportunity to attend the NSW Parliament House on Wednesday, May 26th, to learn more about how the state's leaders work together to make NSW a flourishing community.
Several schools were invited, where Senior SRC students got to explore the structure of Parliament House, learn about the political lives of leaders, and experience what it's like to be one of NSW's leaders fighting for people's rights in the upper and lower chambers of house. Parliamentary Education started off the event with an introduction to the NSW Parliament, followed by a speech by Members of Parliament. After this, the question period began where several Members provided considered responses to each question in order to maximise our knowledge. The day continued with interactions amongst leaders from different schools, where a mix of private and public schools came together to commemorate the day and talk about ongoing HSC studies. The afternoon followed with a guided tour of Government House and a meet & greet with Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazely.
