A message from our student leaders.
Mrs Bilali: As we navigate this challenging time together, our student leaders would like to bring this message to all our BGHS students and their families. All our students need courage at the moment because Lockdown is tough, and Learning at Home is very different to coming to school every day. Our school leaders, who are both in Year 12, know very well what this challenge looks like and have provided the following message for all our students but especially want to encourage their peers in Year 12 at this difficult time. The following message is from Captain, Soundarya, and Vice Captain, Tamanna, and I’d like to thank these girls for sharing their thoughts with us and caring so much about our school community.
Soundarya: COVID, quarantine, lockdown, online learning….. These words have been repeated over and over and have changed our way of thinking and living. Our way of going to school has changed through online learning, our way of communicating with teachers and friends has changed through zoom and social media but this doesn’t mean that we have changed or things won’t go back to normal
Tamanna: We have written this short message to touch base, check on how you’re going and send positive and encouraging messages to all the students with some tips and tricks on how to make Lockdown fun and productive.
Soundarya: As school leaders, we understand that during these unprecedented times we are away from our teachers and friends, we want to go back to school, engage and sit in groups chatting and having a laugh, and we also understand that it is difficult to maintain our school and personal life at home due to these sudden changes. However, with all this going on, we want to make sure that you know we are here for you.
Tamanna: We as a hardworking and striving school know that we are in this together and no matter what happens we will keep working hard and emerge proudly during these difficult times. During the Lockdown, managing time and mental wellbeing can be difficult and overwhelming but we’re here to give you some tips to stay focused and energised and to boost yourself.
Soundarya: While studying, have a timetable to keep you on track, use strategies like the Pomodoro effect for study time and always eat healthy food and stay hydrated for a strong and healthy brain. Please take some time to relax and enjoy yourself by baking some cookies, or catching up on shows or trying new exercises or even spending time with your family. Go out for a while and take in some fresh air and sunlight but do wear a mask for your safety and the safety of your family.
Tamanna: There is nothing more important than your physical and mental wellbeing so as captain and vice-captain we’re always here to support and encourage you along the way and to ensure that you and your family are safe and healthy during these times. Keep working hard and please remember to balance your study and home life as it is really important for your wellbeing. We’re all in this together and we are looking forward to seeing you in school soon.
Mrs Bilali: thanks again, Soundarya and Tamanna, for your words of encouragement. All of the students at BGHS are precious and we hope that you are all safe and well. We look forward to seeing you back at school as soon as possible, but for the moment you need to focus on your wellbeing and keeping your families safe. Stay safe, keep learning and we will welcome you back to school at the earliest opportunity.
