Being the cultured and Avant Garde posse we are, Year 10 and 11 went to the 18thBiennale of Sydney on the 27thof August on Cockatoo Island. The morning started off with the girls at the faux grass area where the roll was called, then we went to the train station. We took a train to circular quay and separated to buy a quick breakfast at McDonald's. We then got on the 10:45 ferry to Cockatoo Island. All the girls enjoyed the morning breeze and the striking Sydney scenery. On the island, we all enjoyed contemporary artworks that where displayed on the actual abandoned factory. The artworks were brilliant, they were postmodern, well thought and challenged the idea of an "artwork". We walked in pitch dark tunnels with the beat of a steady drum echoing through. There was steam coming out of one corner of the island, and artworks stood in the nooks and crannies of the whole island. After two hours of enjoying breathtaking contemporary artworks as well as the view, we got back on the ferry to return to Circular Quay and caught a train to Bankstown where we went our separate ways.
