

This term Year 9 Food Technology have been studying the unit Food for Special Occasions.In this unit the students have learnt about various celebrations around the world and prepared foods that are usually cooked at celebratory functions. On the 23/11/2012, Year 9 planned, prepared and presented in groups cocktail foods to be presented as part of a class high tea. Each group was required to choose a culture and prepare a sweet and savoury dish based on this culture to present in the high tea. The class worked very hard and the results were outstanding. The foods presented were:
Mexico – Beef Quesadillas and Mexican Wedding Cakes
Italy – Vegetarian Pizza and Mini Tiramisu
Great Britain – Homemade Sausage Rolls and Lemon Slice
Australia – Mini Beef Pies and Mars Bar Slice
China – Chicken and Vegetable Spring Rolls and Egg Tarts
Lebanon – Marinated Chicken with Tabouli and Yum Yum Balls
The dishes were thoroughly enjoyed by all, including the TAS staff, Mrs Harper, Mr Borg, Mr Leary and Ms Templeman.
